Last Sunday, October 9th, Geocentrum was held at La Mar Bella Nautical Base and the Tannus riders team did not miss the event. Monika, Ille, Marc (from Standupforbrompton) and Palmer prepared for the 120 km that awaited them at this event organized by Volata, Rueda and Pterodactyl and sponsored by Bike Tech SL, Tannus and Standupforbrompton.

Tannusriders Geocentrum

Geocentrum is a cycling event for mixed teams of 4 members that takes place on asphalt and dirt roads through towns, cities, natural parks and secondary roads. During the race, the team members have to pass through checkpoints that the organization proposes within the schedule set for each one of them. In addition to the mandatory checkpoints there are also optional checkpoints with which participants can get time bonuses. All those registered for the race receive a passport before the start of the race, and have to present it at each of the checkpoints.

The start was timed and every two minutes a team went out and the team that took the least time to go through all the checkpoints was proclaimed the winner. Both the departure and the arrival took place at the same point: The Mar Bella Nautical Base.

The race took place on asphalt roads and dirt tracks and each team took the path they considered, taking into account the type of bike they were riding.

The best of the Geocentrum? The route was totally SECRET until 20:00 the day before, when the organization sent an email to the participants with the location and the checkpoints. That’s more exciting!

Some checkpoints were mandatory while others were optional. The mandatory checkpoints had to be done by all the members of each team in order to complete the race, and if any of them were missed, the validity of the route was cancelled. Optional checkpoints carried a time bonus if done and all team members were required to pass through that point.

This was the route:

The checkpoints were simultaneously divided into categories:

Physics: a member of the organization validated the passport of the participants.

Photographic: The teams had to upload a photo to Instagram showing that they had been at the checkpoint location.

Provisioning: At this checkpoint the runners had to feed and hydrate themselves and validate their passports.

Timed section: The organization marked a series of timed sections.

The tannusriders team experienced many anecdotes before, during and after the race, and it was a very fun experience for everyone. They already had a head start because with the Tannus there were no punctures to regret!

With these Brompton equipped with Tannus they participated in the Geocentrum:

They bet on bright colors to be identified at all times, and the black Tannus left them for the dog, who now has an UNBREAKABLE toy!

While tuning the bike the night before the race they discovered the broken cables…

But in the end, there is nothing that cannot be solved!

And so that there is no lack of energy on the road, this basic supplement for the cyclist cannot be missing…

With Tannus there was no obstacle for the tannusriders!

And as the cyclist does not live on sand alone, here we see Ille on the asphalt.

They finished with a total of 06:09 hours driven at a maximum of 60 km/h and almost 120 km.

And so much for the tannusriders’ experience at Geocentrum with their Brompton – a real adventure!
