We know that the cold is starting to be the companion of those of us who go out with the group whenever we can. However, for those of you who have only just arrived, we leave you these 3 routes in Euskadi that for us, are not to be missed.
One of the most beautiful routes through the Basque Country
This is the greenway from Santa Cruz de Campezo to Maeztu, a 100% family route of about two hours. We start the first of the routes through Euskadi in Santa Cruz de Campezo following the greenway built on top of the old Basque-Navarran railroad track. Along the almost 30km of road we will ride on easy but not asphalted tracks, so we recommend to take a MTB or Gravel bike. Hermitages, walls, nature and charming villages, that's what we will find. Ideal to go with the family.
Tour of the Basque Country:
We have been thinking about which routes in Euskadi by road bike have remained engraved in our minds and many have come to our minds. So, why not recommend a route that goes around the basque country? We warn in advance, you have to be a regular cyclist or, if not, divide it into more stages. It is a circular route of about 370km with an elevation gain of 6,450m that passes through the 3 major cities of the Basque Country: Vitoria Gasteiz, Bilbao and San Sebastian and through countless beautiful villages amidst green landscapes. It should be noted that, regardless of the month of the year in which you decide to do this route, it is likely to rain at some point or another. Therefore, it is important to be prepared for this weather. Waterproof clothing and wheels with extra grip, such as our Tannus Tires.
Pico de la Cruz - Senda al Regato, one of the hardest routes in the Basque Country.
The last of the routes through Euskadi that we present to you is the most demanding of this blog entry for sure, and probably of all the ones we have shared with you so far. This route starts and ends in Barakaldo and we will ascend the Pico de la Cruz. There are "only" 53.5km of route but with 1,550m of elevation gain and sections that you may have to get off the bike. Steep slopes, descents, asphalt, gravel, narrow trails ... Undoubtedly, a day of MTB cycling that will remember your mind and, above all, your quads.
Maximum protection for your routes in the Basque Country
If you decide to ride on asphalt, we have good news. You'll never have to repair a puncture again. Tannus Tires are solid 100% puncture-proof wheels which have a weight very similar to the traditional tire + inner tube combo. One of the highlights is its excellent grip on all types of terrain (even wet), an essential feature if we are going to ride in places where rain is common.
On the other hand, if you are an adventurous cyclist by definition and your natural habitat is the mountains, we also have protection for you. The Tannus Armour is a semi-mousse anti-puncture & tire puncture protection for MTB which increases to 90% puncture protection on a mountain bike. This protection allows you to ride at lower pressures, significantly increasing grip in off-road terrain and therefore safety on the bike.
