With its technological headquarters in South Korea, Tannus is born, the world's most technologically advanced bicycle tire.

Tannus is a solid tire, 100% puncture-proof. However, it is neither rigid nor heavy. Thanks to its patented compound Aither, it is very lightweight and adapts to the terrain's irregularities, making it a comfortable, reliable, and secure tire.

The rim anchoring system with Pins is also patented worldwide and meets the quality standards by TÜV Rheinland (a leading global provider of technical services for safety and certification with a 145-year history).

The Tannus tires are compatible with most rims, but you should check the diameter and inner width of the rim to be sure of compatibility.

It's very simple; we'll tell you how to check it here.

Which model to choose?

Tannus tires are solid tires, but not rigid. The Aither compound is formed by millions of closed air micro bubbles, which allows us to establish a certain air pressure (simulating the inflation pressure), giving elasticity, better performance and comfort to the compound.

In the road models we have available 2 hardnesses (Hard and Regular) and you must choose according to the use and weight.

We recommend the Hard hardness (high inflation pressure) for users weighing more than 80kg or for those who want to obtain better performance - lower rolling resistance.

We recommend the Regular hardness (medium inflation pressure) for users weighing less than 80kg or for those users who want more comfort.

You can see the pressure equivalence in every Tannus model description.

Which model to choose?

Tannus tires have two main benefits over a traditional tire:

  • 100% Puncture-proof
  • No maintenance

All this thanks to the Aither compound:

  • It does not suffer degradation over time.
  • It does not suffer from cold contraction, heat expansion or is affected by UV rays.
  • It can operate in a very wide range of temperatures: from -20º to 60º.
  • The mixture of copolymers, united and put together in a single body, provides strength, stability, elasticity, grip, lightness and long life.
  • Formed by closed air microcells, it allows us to define the equivalent inflation pressures on the wheels, REGULAR or HARD.
  • It is estimated that the material can reach up to 10 years of useful life.

The Tannus tires are compatible with most rims on the market, including carbon or profiled rims, excluding tubular rims. It is necessary for the rim to be Clincher or Tubeless Ready, which incorporate the 'hook' that allows the pin to be secured.

The key aspect to check the compatibility is the inner rim width, there are 2 ways to check:

  • Look on the rim (not the tire) the numbering called ETRTO. It is usually engraved or in a sticker on the side of the rim, 622- (inner width in mm)
  • Measure the inside width of the rim with a caliper.

All Tannus models thanks to the Aither compound guarantee a good grip both in dry and wet.

At first glance, by the appearance of the Tannus it may seem the opposite, since they have a light layer of lacquer that makes it shiny, however, when riding between the first 50 - 150 km it disappears and you can really see the texture provided by the great grip.

Professional users highlight the grip as the second strong point of the Tannus, followed by the anti-puncture aspect.

Thanks to the benefits of the Aither compound, 6,000 km of use are guaranteed in perfect conditions.

However, the useful life of the Tannus can exceed 10,000 km;

From those 6,000 or 8,000 km, the wear is only perceived because the surface is flattened, therefore it will not maintain an optimal shape for a good cornering at high speed, but it will be in very good condition, for example for a daily journey not focused on sports cycling.

El compuesto Aither reúne, entre otras, las siguientes características:

  • It does not suffer degradation over time.
  • It does not crack.
  • It can operate in a very wide range of temperatures: from -20º to 60º.
  • It is estimated that the material can reach up to 10 years of useful life.

All Tannus references can support a weight of 150 Kg (75 Kg per wheel).

This aspect is really positive for cycle travelers and cargo bike trailers.

Tannus are a great roller option. The main advantages over other tires are the following:

  • Avoid punctures and inner tubes blowouts

Remains that remain embedded in the tire when we pedal outside, cause a puncture due to the friction with the roller.

Tires tend to get very hot on the roller and by extension the inner tube, which leads to a blowout.

If the rim tape breaks, the tube is pinched with the hole of the spokes, causing a puncture.

With Tannus we avoid all these problems.

  • Great durability, always ready and multipurpose

The Tannus have a great durability and useful life, we guarantee +6,000 km. In addition, another important factor is that your bike will always be ready to use on a roller and outdoors, you will not have to change tires for each use.

We recommend removing the Tannus from the roller once we finish using it, so it does not take any deformation while it cools down resting on the roller. In the event that it occurs, just by pedaling again on the roller for 5 min it gets fixed.

Each Tannus includes everything necessary for its assembly:

  • 3 sizes of Pins.
  • Assembly tool.
  • Assembly instructions.

Tannus airless tires have been a great innovation for the cycling world, not only when it comes to efficiency against punctures but also for the long durability of its use and the reduction of waste that it entails.

«Using 1 Tannus tire is the equivalent of using 3 traditional tires and 8 inner tubes.»

The aspects that make Tannus ECO Friendly can be summarized in three main points:

  • Minimization of tire and inner tube waste
  • More efficient production process and less harmful materials: no se necesitan textiles, filamentos, aceros, metales como la producción de válvulas, fondos de llanta, sellantes...
  • 100% Recyclable: (Second life in applications in the footwear industry and playgrounds)

Tannus Armour is the first anti-puncture tire insert on the market to work with an inner tube and protect it from punctures by sharp objects, pinches caused by rim impacts (snake bite's) and side cuts (unique in the market).

You will need to choose the Tannus Armour that is within the range of your tire and rim.

It is important that both items are within Tannus Armour's compatibility range.

It's very simple; we'll tell you how to check it here.

Which Tannus Armour should I choose?

Tannus Armour takes up some space inside the tire initially reserved for the inner tube, so you should use a narrower inner tube size than you would normally use.

The size of the inner tube depends on the width of the tire that we use.

In the inner tube range that we indicate for each size it is important that it is never greater than the maximum marked range.

The recommended inner tube size is always indicated on the packaging and website.

It is important to respect this aspect to guarantee effectiveness against puncture.

We have an ultra-light TPU inner tube (ECLIPSE) compatible with every Tannus Armour. Simply select the size of the Tannus Armour you are going to buy and select it in the drop down menu.

You will see that you can easily add tubes by clicking on them.

Which Tannus Armour should I choose?

Tannus Armour is compatible with TPU (thermo-elastomer) inner tubes (Polyurethane). Thanks to this type of tube, the total weight of the wheel assembly is optimized.

Ultralight tubes have a high price compared to traditional butyl tubes, but thanks to the price of the Tannus Armour, the combination of the two elements is in the same price range as a Tubeless Liner. Not bad, right?

We have an ultra-light TPU inner tube (ECLIPSE) compatible with every Tannus Armour. Simply select the size of the Tannus Armour you are going to buy and select it in the drop down menu.

Tannus Armour can also be used with inner tubes that have anti-puncture liquid (slime) but it is not necessary, but if you want to add an extra protection there would be no problem.

Although it can be used, check that the size is appropriate and recommended in each case as indicated in the packaging, assembly guide and web.

Tannus Armour is made from a patent material called Aither. It is a high-quality foam-like polymer that offers vibration damping, a smoother ride and resistance to punctures.

Complete protection: hard to pierce, protection against punctures, side cuts and rim dents.

More comfort: notably absorb vibrations for a smoother ride.

Maximum control: allows pedaling at low pressures for greater grip and better tracing.

Lightweight and Durable: great balance between speed and protection, + 7,000km without maintenance.

No, Tannus Armour is designed to work with an inner tube, it cannot be used without an inner tube.

For Tubeless protection you must choose the special reference for it: Tannus Tubeless.

Tannus Armour is compatible with the Tubolito inner tube or similar (thermo-elastomer) (Polyurethane). Thanks to this type of tube, the weight of the wheel assembly is optimized.

Ultralight inner tubes have a high price compared to traditional butyl ones, but thanks to the cost of Tannus Armour, the combination of both elements falls within the price range of a Tubeless Liner. Not bad, right?

Tannus Armour can also be used with inner tubes that have anti-puncture sealant (slime) but it is not necessary, now if you want to add an extra extra protection there would be no problem.

Despite being able to use, check that the size is adequate and recommended in each case as indicated on the packaging, assembly guide and website.

It definitely depends on personal preferences and it also depends on the cycling discipline you do.

However, the rule of thumb for MTB:

  • For previous Tubeless users, test with a pressure between 5-6 PSI (0.37 BAR) less than what you would be riding normally.
  • For inner tube users, test about 10 PSI (0.68 BAR) less.
  • For those who have no idea of the pressures to use, inflate to a high pressure above 25 PSI (1.7 BAR) and gradually release pressure to the point that you feel that the pressure is not too low to ride.
  • For Gravel and Road, again, it depends on the personal preferences of each one, but what we recommend is to start about ⅔ of the pressure that you normally carry.

Tannus Armour should be trimmed based on the width of the tire used.

If it is not trimmed when indicated or trimmed when not, it will not be installed properly and therefore will affect performance.

Not all Tannus Armour have the cut line, as some sizes do not need to be trimmed.

The indication is always indicated on the packaging, assembly guide and website.

Always cut with scissors.

Tannus Armour is easy to install, these are the only tools, not always necessary:

  • Tijeras (Para recortar el Armour, según tamaño de cubierta que se utilice)

  • Levers (To facilitate the tire beading)
  • Talcum powder (To facilitate the tire beading)

Tannus Armour is easy to assemble, however the following tips can make assembly even easier:

Before assembly, you must check that you are using the correct inner tube and following the cutting instructions.

  • Clean well any remaining sealant and foreign objects inside your tire
  • Place one side of the tire on one wall of the rim first
  • Use talcum powder, to facilitate the beading of the Tannus Armour on the rim
  • An additional precaution is that when placing the Armour, do not pinch the inner tube
  • Slightly inflate the inner tube and start by placing it on the rim through the valve
  • Insert the other wing of the Tannus Armour inside the rim, it will facilitate beading
  • Finally, bead the other side of the tire on the rim and proceed to the final steps

Deflate the inner tube and adjust the Armour

Center the Armour around the wheel

Inflate to a high pressure for adjustment

Tannus Tubeless is our insert / mousse for Tubeless tires. It incorporates a unique wing design, which adds cornering stability and increased performance. It stands out for its resistance - lightness and the non-absorption of sealant liquid.

Tannus Tubeless is available in 3 sizes:

  • 29″x 2.1″ – 2.6″ (PRO)
  • 27,5″x 2.1″ – 2.6″ (PRO)
  • 700 x 33-47

You will have to choose the Tannus Tubeless that is within the range of your tire and rim.

It's very simple; we'll tell you how to check it here.

Which Tannus Tubeless should I choose?

29″x 2.1″ - 2.6″ (PRO) weighs only 155 Gr.

27.5″x 2.1″ - 2.6″ (PRO) weighs only 140 grams.

700 x 33-47 weighs only 70 grams.

To give you an idea, an inner tube weighs between 160 and 190 grams, so it is lighter than most inner tubes.

Additionally, the Aither compound of the Tannus Tubeless does NOT absorb sealant so the lightness of the insert is always maintained.

UNIQUE DESIGN: More stability in curves thanks to its sidewings providing greater performance.

GREATER PROTECTION: Absorbs up to 50% more impacts and vibrations from the ground. Protect the rim and avoid cuts on the tire.

DOES NOT ABSORB SEALANT: The Aither compound does not absorb the sealant, maintaining the lightness of the insert and eliminating future maintenance.

RIDE FLAT: Allows you to ride at (10 km / h) protecting the rim in the event of a puncture.

EASY INSTALLATION: Simple installation in just 5 minutes, without the need for an air compressor.

GO FASTER: Thanks to its design, rolling resistance is reduced by 3%.*

There are 2 kinds of Tubeless inserts:

  • Against the rim inserts
  • "Floating" in the tire inserts

Inserts that sit tightly against your rim are great, but the insert will dissipate the force directly into the rim, leading to reports from bike shops all over the country saying that rims are breaking more often with this kind of insert than without an insert even. They will also make the ride feel "dead" and "boring" according to several riders who used to ride them. Lastly they are usually VERY difficult to install.

The downside of "floating" inserts is that they do in fact provide rim protection, but no ride quality advantages. They are adding weight to your bike, but ride just like a standard tubeless tire.

Tannus Tubeless combines the ride quality benefits of an insert seated up against the rim, but with the weight and easy installation of a floating insert. This is made possible by the flexible "Wings" that allow the insert to sit higher in the tire, but still provide 20mm of rim protection.

Tannus Tubeless is made from a patent material called Aither. It is a high-quality foam-like polymer that offers vibration damping, a smoother ride and resistance to punctures.

Compound enhancements for Tannus Tubeless:

  • STRONGER (20mm protection)
  • LIGHTER (50% + than the Armour for inner tubes)
  • DOES NOT ABSORB SEALANT LIQUID

Thanks to the shape of the Tannus Tubeless, it has been possible to improve rolling resistance.

When using it, it goes 3% faster than without using a mousse / insert.

As the tire is compressed while pedaling, the tire has a rebound property. This bouncing property 'propels' the bike forward.

The Tannus Tubeless adds an additional rebound element that adds to the propulsion of a standard tire, making pedaling even faster.

The sealant must be "Tubeless Specific".

The recommended amount of sealant for proper operation is between 118 ml and 177 ml per tire.

Recomendations:

  • If you've made some sealant in your garage, we can't guarantee anything, but props to you for trying.
  • Also, don't use any "tube" sealants IE Slime, Flat Attack etc.

It is to allow the sealant reach the outside of the tire, as we don't want the sealant to stay “stuck” on one side of the tire.

We want the sealant to flow inside of the tire when is spinning around. The holes are there to let it flow.

This way there will always be enough sealant to seal punctures.

It does not affect the mounting, however one of the mounting techniques is that if you are going to place the sealant after installing the Tannus Tubeless and tire, it is to try to align one of the holes where the valve is to apply it directly to the rim.

Nope! Any tubeless valve will get the job done.

This is made possible by the flexible wings that create two chambers within the system. You can put the sealant in, and the holes in the insert allow the sealant to pass through without getting stuck on one side of the insert.

Most mousse come with a specific valve, they allow air to enter sideways since the mousse itself covers the upper part of the valve. With Tannus Tubeless they are not necessary and you can use of your current valves.

All you'll need are tubeless specific rims and you'll be all set!

Make sure that you tape them well, a poorly taped tubeless system has more flat issues than anything else out there.
