Introduction
On December 29th, 220 Tannus tires were donated to the Bicycles for Education project in Palmarin, Senegal.
The bicycle is an element of cohesion, solidarity and a mobility tool for people without resources.
Bicycles Without Borders Foundation
Born in Girona, Bicicletas Sin Fronteras is a non-profit social project aimed at improving the quality of life of people without resources through bicycles, so that they can travel to school or work. They have a job placement workshop, where jobs are created for people at risk of social exclusion.
They have delivered more than 1937 bicycles since the beginning of their activity (2012) in countries such asSpain, India or Senegal.

They work together with the rural community and the Lluís Llach Foundation to deliver more than 800 bicycles to high school students and create jobs for bicycle management.
Thanks to the incorporation of bicycles in the daily lives of students, it has been possible to reduce absenteeism by reducing the time and cost of going to school. The distance that some students have to travel can reach up to 10 km in some cases. The alternative to the bicycle is the bus, but many students cannot afford it since the cost of a bus ticket is the equivalent of a parent's daily salary.
The inclusion of the bicycle element has facilitated their lives not only as a means of transportation but also as an element of leisure and motivation in their studies. Bicycles are awarded giving priority to the distance between home and school but also taking into account the academic record.
What does Tannus contribute to the improvement of this solidarity project?
The conditions of the terrain in the area are not very favorable and the risk of punctures is quite high. With Tannus puncture-proof tires this problem is solved, you will avoid punctures and all that this entails. This will also save you all kinds of material for replacement and repair (tubes, patches, etc.) and maintenance time.
Each tire comes with an installation kit (tool and anchor pins). The relationship between Bicicletas Sin Fronteras and Tannus Tires began at the beginning of 2017, since then a great friendship has been strengthened with which they hope to be able to help this community in any way possible. In the words of the Tannus team: "We are very aware that the ultimate goal of any company is to contribute with its grain of sand to make the world a better place."
