Today we are here to share with you a solidarity project that we have loved and in which Tannus is going to collaborate: Karaban. Inspired by the African proverb that says: "If you walk alone, you'll get there fast. If you walk together, you will go further", these brave cyclists have set out to ride 10,000 kilometers from Andorra to Kenya in support of a good cause.
What is this solidarity project about?
Karaban's main objective is to provide support and raise funds for the Kings and Queens of Kibera (www.kingsandqueensofkibera.org), located in Kibera, one of Africa's largest slums on the outskirts of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. This non-profit organization is dedicated to meeting the basic needs of Kibera's children, providing them with a home, a decent education and a brighter future.
The "Karaban" of cyclists, equipped with everything they need on their bikes and saddlebags, will face challenges and adversities as they progress along their journey. However, each stage of the journey will be open to people who wish to join, making the trip a diverse and changing experience, with participants of different nationalities.
Karaban's originality lies in the way it travels: a bicycle caravan. This choice not only seeks to make the trip a sustainable experience, but also to convey a message of environmental awareness by using a means of transportation that leaves no footprint.
Along the way, the caravan will stop in different slums that make up Kibera, with the ultimate goal of reaching this community and providing direct support to Kings and Queens of Kibera. Both individuals and companies can collaborate with the project through financial or material donations or by sponsoring kilometers of the route.
